AuctionLand vs Rightmove and Zoopla: which is better for finding auction property?

Last reviewed: 8 October 2026 · Facts checked: 8 October 2026 · Written by: AuctionLand

Disclosure: This comparison is published by AuctionLand, one of the three sites compared. AuctionLand is not affiliated with Rightmove or Zoopla. Every Rightmove and Zoopla fact below links to the public page it comes from, checked on 8 October 2026.

The verdict

  • Use Rightmove or Zoopla to browse auction listings alongside every other home for sale, check sold prices and get free instant alerts. Auction lots show up there when an agent or auction house lists them.
  • Use AuctionLand when you only want auction lots, collected from 2 auction-house websites once a day at 07:00 UK time, with an auction date on each lot, an auction calendar and county-based alerts.
  • AuctionLand is weaker on sold prices (it has none) and price: the portals are free, while AuctionLand's free plan delays full details by 48 hours and instant alerts are on the Unlimited plan only.

How each site handles auction property

AuctionLand

AuctionLand collects upcoming lots from 2 auction-house websites once a day at 07:00 UK time and currently lists 1,477 upcoming lots. It shows only auction lots, each with its auction date where the auction house publishes one, and an auction calendar groups them by auction day. The free plan shows full details after 48 hours; paid plans (£9.95, £14.95 or £29.95 a month, £1 7-day trial) add early access, direct auction-house links and more frequent alerts. It does not show sold prices, run auctions or take bids (auctionland.co.uk/ai-info, /pricing).

Rightmove

A Rightmove listing appears under the Auction filter when its description contains the keyword "Auction" (Rightmove FAQ: how a property shows under the filters (modified 7 July 2026)). Online Conditional Auction listings carry a "Bid to purchase" label, and Rightmove's guide tells buyers to contact the estate agent on the listing to ask about auction dates and viewings. The same guide says the buyer usually gets 56 days to exchange and complete, and that the non-refundable Reservation Fee is about 5% of the purchase price, with minimums starting between £5,000 and £6,000 on average (Rightmove guide: what is an Online Conditional Auction).

With a free Rightmove account you can set alerts to arrive instantly, daily, every 3 days or every 7 days (Rightmove Help Centre: how to register for Property Alerts) and save up to 20 alerts and searches (Rightmove Help Centre: what can I do with a MyRightmove account). Rightmove also shows sold price history sourced from HM Land Registry or Registers of Scotland (Rightmove sold house prices).

Zoopla

Zoopla's auction homes page says it has "thousands of homes available" at auction and explains that an auction home is listed online by either an estate agent or an auction house. Signing in lets you save properties and searches and get instant alerts for new listings and price reductions. The page also links to auction-house pages by area, says sold house prices come from Land Registry and Registers of Scotland, and states that the website is completely free for you to use (Zoopla: auction homes for sale).

Where AuctionLand is weaker (honest notes)

  • No sold prices: Rightmove and Zoopla both show sold prices from the land registries. AuctionLand does not.
  • Only the auction houses it tracks: AuctionLand collects lots from 2 auction-house websites. Lots from auction houses it does not collect from will not appear, while the portals show any auction listing an agent or auction house places with them.
  • Free listings are delayed: free users see new lots as locked teasers for 48 hours, and instant alerts need the Unlimited plan (£29.95/month).

Where AuctionLand is stronger

  • Auction lots only: nothing to filter out, and lots come from the auction houses' own websites rather than relying on a keyword in a listing description.
  • Auction days in one place: the auction calendar lists 4 upcoming auction days by auction house, with lot counts.
  • Daily refresh: auction-house websites are checked once a day at 07:00 UK time.

How we compared

We read the public Rightmove and Zoopla pages linked on this page on 8 October 2026 and kept only claims we could confirm there. AuctionLand's lot count, auction-house count, update schedule and prices are shown live from its catalogue and plan settings, so they can change from day to day. We have not compared listing counts directly, because Rightmove does not publish an auction lot count on the pages checked and Zoopla gives only "thousands". Always verify lot details, legal packs and fees with the auctioneer. We review this page at least every 90 days.
