Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how AuctionLand (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects personal data when you use auctionland.co.uk (the “Service”). We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
AuctionLand is a UK property auction aggregator. We display listing information sourced from third-party auction houses. We are not the seller or auctioneer for those lots.
1. Who we are
The data controller for AuctionLand is the operator of auctionland.co.uk. For privacy requests, use our contact form or email the address shown on that page, with the subject line “Privacy request”.
2. What data we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may process:
- Account data — name, email address, password (stored hashed), phone number if you provide one, and profile preferences (for example preferred counties, price range and alert frequency).
- Subscription and billing data — plan tier, billing period, subscription status, county entitlements, and payment records. Card payments are processed by Square. We do not store full card numbers on our servers; Square may provide us with a customer ID, card on file token, and payment/subscription identifiers.
- Usage data — saved properties, watchlist items, saved searches, property notes, and viewing history associated with your account.
- Lead and enquiry data — information you submit via Sell on Auction or Contact forms (for example name, email, phone, property details and message).
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device information, approximate location derived from IP, pages viewed and referring URLs, collected via server logs and (with consent) analytics tools.
- Cookie and consent data — your cookie preferences and related identifiers needed to honour those choices.
3. Why we use your data (legal bases)
- Contract — to create and manage your account, provide free and paid features, process subscriptions and trials, and respond to support requests you make.
- Legitimate interests — to operate and secure the Service, prevent abuse, improve product quality, and communicate important service messages. We balance these interests against your rights.
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and analytics (Google Analytics and Mixpanel), and where we ask for marketing consent. You can withdraw consent at any time via Cookie Settings or by contacting us.
- Legal obligation — where we must keep records for tax, accounting or regulatory reasons.
4. Subscriptions, trials and payments
Paid plans may include a short paid trial (for example £1 for 7 days), early access to new listings, auctioneer source links, higher alert frequencies and county-based entitlements. Billing is handled by Square. Square’s privacy terms also apply to payment data they process.
We use subscription status to enforce access (including early-access windows and county limits) and to send billing-related emails such as trial reminders or failed-payment notices.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use essential cookies to keep the site secure and working (for example session and consent cookies). With your permission we also use:
- Google Analytics — aggregated site usage statistics.
- Mixpanel — product analytics (for example sign-up, login, property views and subscription events). We design event properties to avoid unnecessary personal data.
You can accept, reject or change analytics cookies at any time via Cookie Settings in the site footer. Rejecting analytics does not remove access to core listing browse features.
6. How we share data
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:
- Processors who help us run the Service (hosting, email delivery, Square payments, analytics providers when consented).
- Professional advisers or authorities where required by law or to protect our rights.
- Auction-related enquiries — if you ask us to connect you about selling a property, we may share relevant enquiry details with appropriate partners solely to fulfil that request.
Listing content itself may already be public on auctioneer websites. Aggregated catalogue data on AuctionLand is for discovery; always verify details with the auctioneer before bidding.
7. International transfers
Some providers (for example analytics or payment infrastructure) may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we use appropriate safeguards such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses, as applicable.
8. Retention
- Account data is kept while your account is active. Deleted accounts may be soft-deleted for a short period then removed or anonymised, except where we must retain billing or legal records.
- Subscription and payment records are retained as needed for accounting and dispute resolution.
- Contact and sell-lead submissions are retained long enough to handle the enquiry and for legitimate business records.
- Server logs and analytics data are retained according to each tool’s configuration and our operational needs.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to certain processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise your rights, contact us via the contact form. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls on administrative systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong unique password for your account.
11. Children
The Service is aimed at adults interested in UK property auctions. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Significant changes may also be highlighted on the site or by email where appropriate.
